The Azerbaijani government is not considering the issue of privatization of state-owned joint stock companies as follows: the power generating operator Azerenerji OJSC, water & sewage operator Azersu OJSC and heating operator Azeristiliktechizat.
At today’s Milli Majlis meeting Finance Minister Samir Sharifov has stated that the government is unable to provide financial independence to some JSCs, as their services are regulated by the state through the Tariff (Price) Council.
“First of all, the government assesses the social effect of possible privatizatioAbcn as it does not want it would create additional problems for the population. The government is very cautious about the tariff policy taking into account population’s interests,” the minister said.
According to Sharifov, the government is also considering the issue of subsidies to JSCs for improvement of their economic condition.
Today Milli Majlis is holding hearings on the Law on State Budget 2016 and the budget-related documents package.
